Make up a budget for one career using basic budgeting percentages
25-35% for housing, 5-15% for transportation, 10-15% for food, 5-10% for personal care, 10-15% for health care, 7-15% for loan repayments, 4-67% for utilities, 1-5% for entertainment, 10% for savings
Find out what a $26,000 loan repayment plan will cost per month if you pay it off in 15 years at 5.6% interest rate, amount per month and amount paid in total for interest over 15 years. Then change it to 6.5% and write down the new numbers. Then pay it off in 20 years at both the 5.6% and the 6.5%. Explain what the difference in interest does to what you have to pay back. Explain what the difference in years does to what you pay back.
Look up a home mortgage amortization schedule for a $350,000 loan taken out for 30 years. What is your mortgage payment? How much of your payment goes towards interest the first month? How much in total interest do you pay for this loan after 30 years? At what year does your payment go more towards the principal rather than towards the interest?
